Early Christmas Morning

It’s 1:00 Christmas morning and everyone else is asleep. The house is finally quiet. Both dogs are crashed out on the couch across from mine and both cats are curled up with me. The Christmas tree and my laptop are the only light sources, and it’s very peaceful in here. I’m having a glass of wine and soaking up the pre-Christmas day silence. With all the work, and the bustle and the go, go, go, leading up to the Holiday, I haven’t really had time to stop and be quiet or reflective. I feel full of emotion tonight — I’m filled with an odd mix of love and sadness.
